International Airport’s (BIA) Silver Zone
car park was opened in May 2006 incorporating
the latest ANPR vehicle registration recording
and entry systems, reducing waiting times on
arrival and departure to the minimum.
With over 1000 customers per day BIA also had
their sights on a system which would provide
effective and timely auditing of pre-existing
damage to vehicles entering the silver zone.
As part of the project BIA installed a purpose
designed vehicle auditing unit at the entrance
to the car park. Hi-Lighter
was adopted as the image recording solution
for its superior image quality compared with
standard video recording systems.
A six camera system was installed with remote
VPN link back to Verdant’s offices for
active internet based support and software maintenance.
The system is also linked to the ANPR cameras
to provide logging of vehicle registration details
enabling easy search and find of vehicles by
the companies staff.
A further novel feature of the system is the
ability allow airport vehicles immediate clearance
by opening the barrier on detection of specified
number plates.
